Nancy Leonard Cossitt Former Resident of Alamo Nancy Leonard Cossitt passed away on May 29, 2006 at Aegis in Aptos, CA following a short illness. She was 86 years old. Nancy lived in Florence, Alabama for about 20 years, starting in her childhood. She then lived in Alamo, California for a total of 35 years. She went to the University of Alabama for her Bachelor of Science degree and then on to Stanford, where she earned a Master’s of English. Nancy was a high school English teacher at Las Lomas High School in Walnut Creek, CA. for 30 years. She had a passion for writing and was a published author in the S.F. Chronicle several times. She also completed two novels about life during the Civil War and was a member of the Diablo Writer’s Club. Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Ann Herbert of Aptos and Nancy Cossitt Taylor of Orinda. She is also survived by her sister Sara Marsh Leonard of Florence, AL and 5 grandchildren. Her husband (of 42 years) Robert F. Cossitt preceded her in death. A private graveside service will be held in Florence, Alabama for Nancy Cossitt. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society (1555 Soquel Dr. Santa Cruz, CA 95065-1705).
